We recently lost a great friend and family member here at the command center, Elway the wonder dog. Effie, Pepper, and I took that really hard. We loved Elway.
As the months have gone by, Pepper really seemed lost without a big buddy. Effie and I also missed having a big dog around but could not deal with replacing Elway. We finally came to the point where we could get another dog, and a lot of that has to do with the dog that came available.
Elway had been mistreated as a pup before we adopted her. She was badly burned. We got her from the Franklin County Animal Shelter.
I knew the time was right for a new dog when another abused dog became available from Franklin County. This one had been shot with a shotgun. We could get a new pup and celebrate Elway’s memory at the same time.
Meet Sharpe, as in Shannon Sharp. He is an 8 month old American Staffordshire Terrier, one of the breeds labelled pit. He is the sweetest and goofiest thing. He will fit in well at RfL.
There are many dogs out there like Elway and Sharpe. Abused and in need of a home. The great thing about Elway and Sharpe is they don’t hold a grudge. They are so full of love. Please look to adopting also. Many good dogs just need a home.
