It is Scribefire. I love the way I can develop my posts while actually on the sites I am researching or that triggered the post. It makes linking, adding images, and getting resource materials a breeze. It also cuts down on the time necessary to create the post.

Scribefire works with many blogging platforms, but, it is only available for Firefox at this time. And yes, there was a Firefox vulnerability that was recently using Scribefire as a vehicle. That has been patched and is no longer and issue. Plus, hackers and bandits are always looking for ways to exploit systems. Get a good defense system, like Avast, and keep it up to date.

Here is a bit more about Scribefire from Mahalo. This gives a lot of information about Scribefire and even has a tutorial.

Here are the steps to how I blog:

I write the post in a text editor, my favorite being Q10 with the typing sounds on

I do a cursory read and make the post a bit more coherent

I cut and paste this into my WordPress WYSIWYG

I format any HTML needed in the post in the WordPress HTML editor

I give it a quick read

I post it

I finally give it the read it deserves, and find a crap-load of mistakes which I then correct

Why do I do things in this order? I seem to be unable to spot my own typos until my work is posted. I don’t know if it is because I am impatient. I don’t know if it is because I can’t visualize the final draft until it is no longer in draft form.

Either way, as soon as I see the posted content, I find and correct my errors. Everything should be alright at that point, if it weren’t for one little thing, my feeds.

Yep, the feeds pick up on the post before I get my corrections in place. Those that subscribe probably think I am barely literate. It is a bit aggravating.

I subscribe to the tenet of one of the greats, Hemingway, who said, “the first draft of anything is shit.”

But what I have now, looking at my Feedburner numbers, is hundreds of people getting that shit-strewn first draft. And to make it worse, it is all my own fault.

Maybe I need to stop my automatic work flow and deliberately start making new, more productive and correct habits.

Since I seem to need to see the final version before editing, maybe I need to save everything as a draft and then look at the post as if it were posted.

I know this seems silly to some, but this is just a result of years of bad habits that I now need to deliberately address and stop. Breaking habits and replacing them with better habits is not all that easy. A habit is, all in all, something that a person performs without thought, automatically.

Whatever the final solution to braking these bad habits, I need to start implementing ideas now as this is getting a bit more than embarrassing.

So, off to habit breaking war I go.

Cheers,

Eban

I make no promises, but things are totally looking down right now. The new Pres. is not only underwhelming, he is downright frightening. At least he is frightening to those that love liberty, freedom, and the chance to make something out of our lives.

If you are in the crowd that feels the need to be taken care of, no matter what the costs to your liberty and freedom, just remember, you get what you ask for. That should send a chill right down your spine, but you are probably too busy thinking of what you are going to do with your handouts to be bothered with freedom and pesky things like making something out of your lives.

Wait, with the above two paragraphs, I do believe I have started political blogging. Oh my, here we go!

Weeeeeeeeeeeee!

Well, Martha is talking blogs on an episode of her show, and that is cool. I never knew Martha was a power-blogger, but it does appear that this is the case.

On the episode, she has Perez Hilton as a guest, talking blogs as well. There is actually some great info for those wanting to jump into blogging, so check it out. I have a clip from the episode below.

Actually, I say that Faith is a fan of Martha, and she is, but I sort of idolize her as well. Not because I am a closet super homemaker, but because that lady built an empire, got railroaded legally–unjustly in my opinion, then incarcerated, and still came back stronger than ever.

That sort of makes whining about little things seem pretty petty, eh?

Yeah, Martha rocks!

Cheers,

Just as I wrote earlier about killing the News Roundup here due to low performance, I am now killing off another of my sites, 3Currencies.

This is a bit of shock to my system. I love 3Currencies, it is just not a performing site. As a matter of fact, for all the effort I put into the site, it gets just 1% of the traffic of the podcast and the blog here.

That sucks.

But, we must adapt. Doing something that is not working is not a very good plan.

I tried to make 3Currencies work. I have updated and relaunched the site 3 times, each with no success. I even partnered up with a content provider, then had to break off that partnership.

The thing is, I chose a hard niche. Well, it is so popular it is hard to call it a niche. I chose to build the site around online marketing. It was doomed from the start.

So why do I say, “Long Live 3Currencies,” then?

I am shifting the 3 currencies to a better niche, one that I know better than most. New Media production!

The three currencies will be from now on, Audio, Video, and Words!

I will give pointers, how-to’s, equipment reviews, tutorials, and more on how to produce great online media. As I said above, I do know a little about that stuff

Well, if you want in on any of the freebies I was offering up over there, get them now, as next week the new 3Currencies will be launched.

Yes, 3Currencies is very dead, Long Live 3Currencies!

Cheers,

Eban

FAILURE!

Yep, that is correct. I just checked my stats to see how the roundups have been performing. Well, here is a breakdown.

Searches:

Google is not indexing the news roundups. It is shuffling the roundup posts off to the Google no man’s land. This is probably because the titles I use are actually from the sites I am referencing. I did add my own commentary to the posts, but still, I was getting the good old Google content slap. This is not good for my traffic.

My original content posts and single news stories still get very good play in Google, however. Some of my posts from a couple of months back still get very good traffic from searches.

Readers:

Of all the daily traffic I get to the site, only 10% or less were reading the news roundups. My actual, content rich, posts are still getting all of the attention.

Hey, what is a blog without readers? This of course is linked to the Google slap on the posts in question as most of my traffic comes from the searches.

Subscribers:

Here things are a bit more murky. I have no direct feedback on the roundup posts, so I have no real data on whether the blog subscribers like the posts or not. If you are a subscriber and like the posts, let me know.

As of now, I am dropping the roundups from the rotation and getting back to my regular posting style. This is mainly because I need to get more current posts into the Google indexing. Plus, it is more fun, and believe it or not, less work, to do regular posts.

Another factor is that regular posts have legs. They are not as time sensitive. I mean, think about it, the news roundup is relevant for a day or two, then it is literally “old news.”

On a side note, for those out there wishing to make money from blogging, new media, online marketing, in other words, the way I make money, you need to keep testing your approaches and evaluate what is working and what is not. Experimenting and testing is the way you enhance your chances of success.

I used the word failure in this blog. The blog is not a failure, just that type of post. By testing and evaluating, I now know that I need to drop the roundups. It may be a cliche, but the way to success is paved with failure, as long as you use the failure to learn and make your project stronger.

Now, back to work!

Cheers,
